Originally the StudenTalent and TeacherTalent prizes were arranged by Faculty and FSR respectively. With the goal to create equal chances for a place in the spotlight, the new proces allows for anyone to nominate a (fellow) student or staffmember for a prize. To make sure winners are selected as objectively as possible, a jury has been created which consists of seven people: three faculty staffmembers and three student members. The faculty members are one from each discipline. The student members include both the studyassociations VSPVU and VIB and the studentassessor.

The jury convenes twice: once before the nominating starts to discuss details and confirm the rules of the process and once after the voting to select the winners. This is to prevent the Educational Prizes from becoming (solely) a popularity contest.
